Yorgos Papafigos (b. 1989, Greece) is a multidisciplinary artist living and working in Athens.
He holds an MA in Contemporary Art Practice (Moving Image) from the Royal College of Art in London (2018), and a BA/MFA in Painting from the School of Visual and Applied Arts, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (2015).
His work has been presented in major international institutions and platforms, including the 19th WRO Media Art Biennale(Poland), Whitechapel Gallery (UK), the 58th Thessaloniki International Film Festival, The Wrong Digital Art Biennale and Galeria Fran Reus in Mallorca . He has exhibited solo at Plexus Projects (NYC), and participated in curated projects such as "The Human Condition in the Age of Artificial Intelligence" (Athens, 2024), "GUI/GOOEY"at Plexus Projects (NYC, 2024), "Safe Mode: Amplified Realities" at TILT Platform (Athens, 2022), Goethe Institut in Thessaloniki (2017), Museum of Modern Art in Thessaloniki (MOMUs) .
He has been artist-in-residence at PADA Studios in Portugal and participated in workshops and collaborations with institutions including Onassis Foundation ONX, NEON, and LUX London. Papafigos was awarded the Schilizzi Foundation Scholarship (UK, 2018) and received a Special Award in Video Art from the Premio Carlo Bonatto Minella (Italy, 2017).
