Moon White Moth is a group show focused around the idea of the nocturnal self. Issues of transformation, secrecy and opacity bleed into the architecture of the club renegotiating the limits of the self and that which is known. The dark nurtures spaces for experimentation and fantasies, apparitions and hybrids forming a stage that fights restrictions, amplifying our sense of possibility. Like moths flying towards the light in a fearless cycle of death and regeneration, the anonymity of the night becomes an origin for transcendence, allowing bodies to exist without being directly looked at, granting permission to perpetually transform.

Yorgos Papafigos: BORDERLESS PLACES
18 January - 23 February, 2019
Kappatos Gallery, Athens(Exhibited)

Kappatos gallery presents the second solo exhibition of Yorgos Papafigos. The exhibition’ s subject area is about human relation with new technologies and the World Wide Web and the concomitant influence that they exert on him through references to the video game aesthetics and the Internet culture.

A new series of artworks like moving images focuses on the Digital era and how immateriality affects human’ s perception of the real world through digital content (sound and image), which are generated entirely in the CPU. These digital artworks are a mash-up of disquieting situations, which take place in a fake world. Animated monochromatic bodies without a specific gender, identity , ethnicity, imaginary places which have been affected by ecological devastation. The compositions and environments consist of 3D modeling and 3D scanning data while the physical sculptures are related to the other components allegorically, as they represent hybrid objects.
The exhibition will present a selection of drawings, 3D printed installations and animation.

Meet emerging and established artist filmmakers, L.S. Barron, Zishi Han, Min Young Kim, Yorgos Papafigos, Korallia Stergides and Valinia Svoronou as they present their short film work and discuss it with peers and Adjunct Film Curator Gareth Evans.

SOAPBOX is a one-night screening presented by the Royal College of Art's Moving Image Pathway students. This event is a self-curated, student run initiative to present the multi-faceted nature of the moving image as a vehicle for political expression, theory, self-exploration, and information. This screening is a diverse collection of 30 works and excerpts ranging from experimental cinema and performance to animation, curated under a 3-minute umbrella. The 3-minute challenge capitalises on the short-film format as a way of presenting a range of voices.
